Activity Summary

On Saturday, December 28, 2024, Better Me partnered with CITAM Kisumu Church to conduct an event titled Empowering Street Children in Kisumu County. The purpose was to provide meals, host empowerment and talent development sessions, offer spiritual guidance, and begin the process of rehabilitating and reintegrating street children into society. The day combined fun, education, counseling, and fellowship to nurture hope and promote a sense of belonging among the street children and the wider community.

Personnel Input

The event was coordinated by Patrick Precious Otieno (Project Coordinator) and Reverend Felix Kola (Social Action Pastor at CITAM Kisumu), with support from over 30 church volunteers and community members.
The day started with a prayer and introductory remarks led by Reverend Felix, after which meals were shared. Talent development activities including singing, acting, and dancing competitions were conducted to foster confidence and creativity among the children.
Patrick Precious Otieno facilitated empowerment talks alongside Adonijah, a former street child, to address drug abuse and inspire rehabilitation.
Throughout the day, volunteers interacted individually with children, offering mentorship and spiritual guidance sessions.
